Criteria for Entry

Woodland is proud to be all inclusive when it comes to short films. Basically, if you made it, if its shorter than 15 minutes (or there abouts) and it’s not going to cause too much controversy, we want to see it!

  • Films must be no shorter than 1 minute or no longer than 15 minutes including titles and credits (give or take 30 seconds or so…we’re not that tight).
  • Films must adhere to all Australian (and international) copyright laws in terms of being screened in a public forum.
  • Films can be of any genre but may not contain deliberately explicit graphic or thematic content that will be deemed offensive in terms of political, personal, sexual or religious affiliations (or be deemed offensive on the grounds of really bad taste.)
  • All films must be in English or with English subtitles
  • All films must be submitted in digital form (either via filesharing download or non-returnable data DVD or USB drive with completed application form and full entry payment.

High-Definition (HD) Submission Format 

Accepted Video Codecs:

Apple ProRes 422

H264

Accepted Video Resolutions:
1080p (1920x1080p) Preferred
1080i (1920x1080i)
720p (1280x720p)

Both pillar boxing and letter boxing are OK.

Frame Rate:
PAL 25 fps
Accepted Audio Configurations:

Stereo (Lt-Rt 2-channel mix)
NOTE: 5.1 (MUST ALSO INCLUDE a stereo L-R downmix)

Accepted Audio Compressions
Format should be 10-bit linear PCM or 16-bit PCM for each channel
Audio Rate: 48 kHz

Standard-Definition (SD) Submission Format Basic Submission Guidelines

Accepted Video Codec:
Apple ProRes 422 Preferred
H264 (must provide bitrate)

Accepted Video Resolutions:

PAL submissions:
720×540 or 768×576 SQUARE PIXELS
720×576 NON-SQUARE PIXELS
